Sixty years out of La Rochelle

Dufour has built sailing yachts at La Rochelle since 1964, when Michel Dufour — an engineer who raced what he drew — launched the Sylphe and set the house style: quick enough to reward a good helmsman, civilised enough to live aboard for a season. Six decades later the range is drawn by Umberto Felci, whose partnership with the yard now runs past twenty years and has produced hulls that are genuinely fast under sail without asking the crew to work for it.

The Grand Large philosophy is what most owners come for — wide aft sections, a cockpit designed around the galley and the grill rather than bolted on afterwards, and a rig that one person can shorten. Synergy represents Dufour in Greece: specification and build slot handled with the yard, delivery and commissioning in Athens or Preveza, and the year-round care that keeps a boat sailing rather than sitting.
